In Preparation:
The revised and enlarged edition of the standard German
monograph on passionflowers, 'Passionsblumen', will be published in
English under the title 'Fascinating Species of the Genus Passiflora'
in the second half of 2001. This book contains another 100 descriptions
of species and the number of color photos has more than doubled. The
new arrangement of entries puts each species in its context and in combination
with major changes in the text and additional chapters makes this a
completely new book. On approximately 450 pages (6 x 10 ins) you will
find:
In this voluminous book almost all species of passionflowers under cultivation and their hybrids are presented in detail together with a color photo; among these are many rarities and novelties. On at least one page for every species the reader obtains information regarding the meaning of the Latin name of the species, the synonyms, the region of origin, and the concrete conditions for cultivation. Moreover, characteristic features of the individual species are presented in a detailed, short-form description at the end of each entry. In addition important characteristics are explained by drawings. The individual species are not presented in alphabetical order but are assigned to the respective subgenera. In independent chapters the representatives of the subgenera Astrophea, Passiflora, Decaloba, and Deidamioides are presented separately regarding their peculiarities in cultivation and their characteristic morphology and systematics. Hence this extensive monograph is recommended for the gardening enthusiast and cultivator as well as for the interested botanist and taxonomist. The new hardcover volume by authors Bettina & Torsten
Ulmer will be available in the second half of 2001. The price will be
$60. You are offered the opportunity to order this book at the subscription
price of $50 until September 30, 2001. In order to convince you of the quality of this book we will offer
you the opportunity to view the first page here,
